Why doesnt someone tell us where we can get a air quality test kit for people who live out in the country? We cant send for someone to drive out here, is there a portable kit available to suck air and send it in for testing?

Would be appreciative if you could provide, recommend a company which provides testing of residential homes air quality. Specifically trying to establish risk of second hand smoke from attached neighboring home

We have moved into an old cottage near the south Kent coast (the oldest part of which is mid 18thC). I am concerned that the quality of the air, particularly in the living room, may be suspect, either from a feature of the premises, or some other reason; and to such an extent that it may be having a negative impact on our health. After a very short time sitting in there, say 10 minutes, extreme lassitude sets in.

Would this indicate a case for air testing? For what range of substances would one test, and if injurious substances are indicated, how would one take remedial action? (We have a CO monitor in the hall which registers clear).

I am needing some more information on air quality testing because I work at a call center and have been off work since November 9/2010 due to losing my voice for periods of times since June and I am thinking that it is to do with the ventalation or the air quality at work and I am needing to know the specific systems and what is all tested in an air quality test. I need to know if the ventalation system(the ducked work)is supposed to be checked as well not just taking a wand around a room in different spots and checking that way.

I have an employee who indicates that around 1:00 -1:30 every day they start to feel sick to their stomach and have to leave work. The employee is in a 10x10 office with no windows, but does have air vents and return in the office. noone on the same floor has the same issues. What can we use to check the office?

Donna,

You should probably try to get your indoor air tested. Many times the activation of a heating system can cause an indoor air problem to worsen. If there is excessive dust on your electric heating system, by turning it on it may be sending those particles into the air. Your best bet would be to contact a qualified expert in your area.
